GREAT VINEGAR. MOTHER MADE US DO IT. ®

Original Honey Wine Vinegar

$13.00

Honey and vinegar. Opposites certainly do attract (us) in our first ever sweet and tangy mead vinegar. Honey wine, also known as mead, is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with added fruits, spices, or herbs. With a rich history dating back to Viking and medieval times, it offers a sweet and aromatic drinking experience.

The honey notes are unmistakable in this barrel-aged, limited-edition vinegar which presents with a warm, hazy honeycomb glow from the unfiltered and raw honey.

Made with mead from Vermont and finished with raw clover honey after barrel aging this vinegar has us all abuzz!

Honey Wine Vinegar FAQs

What sets your honey wine vinegar apart from other vinegars?

Our honey wine vinegar is distinguished by its unique base ingredient: high-quality honey wine, or mead. This gives our vinegar a naturally sweet and floral flavor profile that you won't find in other vinegars. We carefully ferment the honey wine using traditional methods, allowing it to develop rich, complex flavors. The result is a versatile vinegar that combines the sweetness of honey with the tanginess of vinegar, creating a product that is both unique and superior in taste.

How can I incorporate your honey wine vinegar into our cooking?

Our honey wine vinegar can be used in a variety of culinary applications to enhance both sweet and savory dishes. It’s perfect for creating delicate salad dressings and marinades, adding a subtle sweetness to glazes for meats, or incorporating into sauces for an extra layer of flavor. We also love using it in baking recipes, where it can add depth and complexity to cakes, cookies, and pastries. Additionally, it’s an excellent choice for drizzling over fresh fruit or incorporating into refreshing beverages and cocktails.

What are the health benefits of your honey wine vinegar?

Our artisan honey wine vinegar retains the natural health benefits of honey, including antioxidants and antibacterial properties. The acetic acid produced during fermentation aids in digestion, helps regulate blood sugar levels, and supports overall gut health. By choosing our honey wine vinegar, you’re opting for a product that not only enhances your dishes with a unique and delightful flavor but also provides nutritional benefits that contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

Essential Kitchen Vinegars Four Pack

Worth Waiting For

Modern vinegars have lost their way, so we stepped back in time to recreate a process from 1823.  Our equipment doesn’t exist anymore so we remade it in partnership with local universities.

After slow fermentation our vinegars are barrel aged before being hand bottled raw and unfiltered. It all takes a lot more time and care but we think the results are spectacular. I hope you will too.

My absolute favorite

I'm not sure why but this vinegar just hits all the right notes for me and of the 3 I've tried from AVW it is my absolute favorite. Clean and bright acidity. Smooth. And the honey notes in the finish are sublime!! I'm going through this one too fast in fact. I'm using it for the acid in salad dressings....in my marinades.....and in glazes for meats and stir fry. This one is a complete winner!!

Excellent

It's a soft vinegar, actually smooth on my tongue. My wife objected to my vinegarettes until I started making them with this vinegar.
